East Herts Consultation – Parking changes in East Herts

East Herts District Council is inviting residents to share their views on proposed changes to car park operation hours, tariffs and maximum stay periods.

The current tariffs in the Bowling Green Lane car park are:
• Chargeable Hours - Monday - Friday, 09.00 - 15.00
• 1.5 hours - FREE (3 hours £2.10)
• Public Holidays - All day - £2.00
• The car park is currently free on Saturdays, Sundays and Christmas Day.
• Blue Badge holders are currently able to park free of charge, but must display their blue badge.

The proposed Tariffs will be:
• Chargeable Hours - Monday - Saturday 07:30 - 18:30
• 30 minutes FREE (3 hours £2.20)
• Public Holidays - All day £2.10
• Sundays - All day - £2.10
• 3-hour limit on free parking for Blue Badge holders.

Separate from these proposed changes, the plans will also raise charges in all car parks from April 2026, in line with the Consumer Price Index, as already agreed by East Herts District Council.
