I was born and bred in Hertfordshire and have lived in the county for most of my life. I grew up in Stansted Abbotts, and started my working career in Ware. Later I moved to Royston and finally back to Buntingford with my partner Trish, in 1989. I joined the fire brigade in the town as, a retained firefighter and spent over 20 years helping the community and surrounding area.
I hope to continue helping Buntingford as a councillor.

Phil was Co-opted onto the Council in January 2024.
